FAQ

you describe yourself as an artist, do you do more than just photography?

Photography is definitely my first passion, it is how I see the world and express my view on connection, love and emotions. I have, however, trained in other areas and love to create in all sorts of ways, some being printmaking (the intaligio process is my favorite), watercolor, painting, book binding and ink drawings.

what the heck do we wear for our session?!

What you wear is very important in the overall feeling in your photos. Colors, layers and textures all play a vital role in making your images look amazing. I recommend wearing a more neutral and earth tone palette, think creams, whites, browns, caramel, black, deep blues, ochre-yellow, rust, etc. Incorporating layers add visual interest and accessories like stiff brim hats can take your photos over the top aesthetically.

I have a what to wear guide that I will send you to make planning your outfits a breeze, and actually enjoyable! I also love creating outfits, so if you need more ideas I will happily put together a mood board with examples that are tailored to you. Outfits should be fun and reflect you! And I am here to help.

what is your turnaround time?

Sessions such as engagements, motherhood, families, portraits, etc, have a turnaround time of 3 weeks from the date of the session.

Weddings have a turnaround time of 6 weeks from the date of the wedding.

how do we receive our photos?

You'll receive your photos in a professional online gallery where you'll be able to view, download, favorite and share all of the final photos. Some wedding collections will also receive a professional USB with all of the final photos.

Can you help us with our wedding day schedule?

Absolutely! I have been doing this for a long time and have gone through planning a wedding myself. I know what a typical day can to look like and all the variations and possibilities that can happen depending on what you're dreaming and planning. We'll start a first draft together over a zoom call or in person hangout (which I love!) so you can keep going with planning and have a tangible idea of how to organize it all. You are welcome to update me along the way with any changes and I'll revise the schedule. The final schedule is due to me 1 week before your big day! If you're working with a planner, have them email it, otherwise if you're working with me on the schedule, I'll reach out at that 1 week mark to confirm our last draft is now the final one we'll plan on!

what if we need to reschedule our wedding date?

I totally understand that things happen and you may need to reschedule your wedding date. Covid has definitely affected people with this and I have been, and will continue to be, flexible if you need to change your wedding date due to a Covid-19 related issue. At the time of booking me, you pay a $500 deposit to reserve your date and my services. This deposit is non-refundable. If you need to reschedule due to a Covid-19 related issue, the deposit will be transferrable one time to a new date. Your full balance will also still be due at the time of your contracted date.

Outside of Covid, if you need to reschedule your wedding date for any other reason, the deposit is non-transferrable and a new retainer will be required for the new wedding date. We can talk more in detail about this as well. I'd be happy to answer your questions.

we're worried about covid, how are you conducting business during this crazy time?

This is seriously such a crazy time and my heart goes out to all of you planning a wedding during this time. Please see the "rescheduling" question above for how the money stuff works if you need to change your wedding date due to Covid.

As a business, I will follow any government mandate that is issued. If anything changes, be it a newly issued mandate, I will be sure to reach out to you asap to talk through anything that might need to change with how we plan to work together.

As for how I'll show up to a wedding and/or session... I have been completely vaccinated with Pfizer, since May 3, 2021! I will continue to wear a mask if you feel more comfortable with that, no problem at all. If there is still a mandate out for individuals to wear a mask in a public place and/or group gathering, I will of course follow any government guidelines.

Talk to me if there is anything else I can do to make you feel more comfortable!

where are you based out of and do you travel?

I am based out of Grand Haven, Michigan and yes I travel across the United States! Please reach out to me if you'd like me to come your way - I would just love that! We can talk through what it would look like for me to travel to where you or your wedding will be all upfront during the booking process.

I think I'm a little awkward in photos, can you help me with this?

Absolutely, of course, heck yes! First off, I promise you you're way better at taking photos than you think. I have worked with so many people and no one has ever come across awkward or weird. I have been told that I make a lot of people feel comfortable, especially people who are newer to doing sessions.

Secondly, I will guide you completely throughout the entire session. I have plenty of poses and prompts that will make things easy, comfy and fun. And really, we're just hanging out. You're just spending some time with your honey and doing things together that you already do (walking, snuggling, crackin' jokes, relaxing into each other, etc). I have found too that just being open to the creative process, coming with the mindset of openness and wanting to try and have fun is all it takes. :)

we are so excited to book you! what is our next step?

Woo! I'm so excited to work with you! Next step is to simply go to my "connect" page, fill out the form with what you're thinking so far and we'll go from there!
